Redwood Coast Web Designs

⚠️ Important Note

This website is no longer publicly available as the client chose not to renew their agency hosting contract. As a result, the live site and codebase are no longer accessible. However, this project was a complete, client-delivered solution, and the process, design thinking, and technical decisions behind it are detailed below.

Overview

I was responsible for building a client website from the ground up using Figma designs, translating visual concepts into a fully responsive and functional web experience. In addition to new development, I regularly resolved bugs across multiple client websites, helping to maintain performance, usability, and stability. I worked closely with a cross-functional Scrum team, contributing to daily standups to stay aligned on priorities and progress. I also participated in code reviews to uphold coding standards, ensure code quality, and promote consistency across the development team.

Problem

Redwood Coast Web Designs required dependable development support to turn detailed Figma designs into fully functional websites that met client expectations and performed well across devices. Alongside new builds, there was a constant need to identify and fix bugs on existing client websites without affecting live functionality. Maintaining high code quality and consistency was essential, especially within a fast-paced workflow where multiple projects were active at once and deadlines were often tight.

Reflection

This experience strengthened my ability to deliver high-quality code under real-world pressures and sharpened my problem-solving skills through regular bug fixing across diverse codebases. Working closely with designers' Figma files taught me the importance of attention to detail and aligning technical output with visual expectations. Participating in standups and code reviews deepened my understanding of team collaboration, agile workflows, and the value of maintaining clear communication.

Final Site

Status: Discontinued

The final website is no longer publicly available, and the codebase is no longer accessible. Due to the nature of the agency contract, no screenshots or mockups from the project are available.

Learning

1. Responsive Design Execution: I deepened my ability to convert Figma designs into responsive, pixel-accurate websites that perform well across devices and screen sizes.

2. Agile Collaboration: Working in a Scrum team helped me understand the importance of communication, iterative feedback, and staying aligned through standups and planning sessions.

3. Code Quality & Standards: Participating in code reviews reinforced best practices and taught me how to write clean, maintainable, and consistent code in a team setting.

4. Efficient Debugging: Troubleshooting bugs on live sites sharpened my debugging process and taught me how to deliver fast, reliable fixes without compromising user experience.

Challenges

One of the main challenges during this experience was accurately translating Figma designs into responsive, high-quality code that preserved the designer's intent across devices and was pixel-perfect. Working within an agency environment often meant juggling tight deadlines, which required balancing development speed with the need for clean, maintainable code. Debugging live client websites added another layer of complexity, as fixes had to be implemented quickly and carefully to avoid disrupting the user experience. Additionally, aligning technical decisions with client expectations called for clear communication and thoughtful execution to ensure the final product supported both usability and business objectives.

Future

Building on this experience, I am eager to further enhance my skills in performance optimization and accessibility to deliver websites that are not only visually compelling but also fast and inclusive. I plan to incorporate automated testing and streamlined deployment processes to increase development efficiency and reliability. Moving forward, I'm excited to take greater ownership of projects from start to finish, driving technical decisions and delivering impactful solutions that align with both client goals and user needs.
